Healthy tips to maintain a healthy kidney

Healthy tips to maintain a healthy kidney

In the previously presented articles, a long discussion about the human kidney was

presented and a long description was also given of kidney-related diseases and the various

treatment methods used for them. However, it is a well-known fact that maintaining

a healthy pair of kidneys by following proper health habits is preferable to treating

kidney diseases or looking for treatment methods to prevent such kidney-related diseases.

Accordingly, what is expected to be presented in today's article is a brief description

of the healthy habits that can be done to have a healthy pair of kidneys, free from

 kidney-related diseases.

Maintaining the vital organs of the human body in good health is most important

for a healthy life. Accordingly, it is essential to perform the various functions performed

by the kidneys in the body properly. Otherwise, you may eventually get sick and die

prematurely. There are some simple health tips to follow to keep the kidneys healthy.

         Maintaining a healthy body weight

Obesity is the root cause of many diseases. Accordingly, being fit is very important for

the kidneys as obesity can cause high blood pressure which affects kidney health negatively.

And regular physical activity can prevent weight gain, high blood pressure, and the risk of

chronic kidney disease (CKD). Various studies have shown that CKD patients have less

physical activity compared to the general population, and it has been further discovered that

exercise can reduce other health problems in CKD patients. Walking, running, jogging,

cycling, dancing and swimming are good activities for good health. And you should work

slowly for at least 150 minutes every week without overexertion. But attention should be

paid to how much exercise is done

       Drink plenty of fluids

It has been revealed beyond dispute that water is the best drink in the world. The

reason for saying so is because it can prevent and control many diseases. Water helps the

kidney to free the body from waste and remove toxins from the blood. It also helps prevent

kidney stones and urinary tract infections. Although it is a popular belief that everyone

should drink eight glasses of water a day, which is approximately 2 liters, daily water

requirements also vary from person to person as one's body mass varies. Accordingly, the

amount of water needed by a person depends on factors such as age, climate, exercise

intensity, health conditions, etc. An important point to keep in mind here is that hydration

is good for the kidneys, but it should not be overdone because no studies have proven that

overhydration can improve kidney function.

Do not use over-the-counter (OTC) pills

Regular use of painkillers is one of the leading causes of kidney damage. Among them

are nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), including ibuprofen and naproxen.

People who regularly take painkillers for chronic pain, headaches, or arthritis are more

likely to develop kidney damage. However, if these drugs are used daily, your kidney health

may be at risk, so if you are coping with the pain, you should seek proper advice from

your doctor about kidney protection treatments.

Assess your risk and get tested.

Regular kidney function tests are one of the best ways to know the health of the kidneys

and check for any changes that may occur. It is an accepted opinion that prevention is better

than cure. If your family has a history of kidney failure, diabetes, high blood pressure, or

obesity, getting your kidney function checked is better. People who should have their kidney

function checked regularly include people over the age of 60, people with low birth weight,

people with cardiovascular disease or a family history of high blood pressure, and people

who are obese and who are believed to be at risk of kidney problems. If you don't have

symptoms of high blood pressure or diabetes or don't have a family history, you may still

be at risk for kidney disease. So, the best way to know your kidney health is to get your

health checked regularly. By doing so, the risk of kidney disease can be avoided.

        Eat healthy diet.

Choosing healthy foods is the foundation of controlling any disease. And you will have a

fair and healthy body. A healthy diet can help maintain ideal body weight and prevent

diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, and other conditions associated with CKD.

Include healthy foods such as fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and low-fat or

fat-free dairy products in your daily diet. But it is important to reduce the addition of salt and

sugar. Consume less than 2,500 milligrams of sodium per day. Moreover, the amount of

added sugar should be less than 10 percent of your total daily calorie intake. Whenever

possible, avoid high-fat foods, restaurant foods, processed meats, and other

kidney-damaging foods.

Quit smoking and limit alcohol intake

Smoking and alcohol use are widespread health problems worldwide. Most of both

men and women are addicted to smoking and drinking alcohol from a young age. Many

diseases occur due to this reason.  These are cancers like oral cancer, kidney cancer, lung

cancer, and blood circulatory and cardiovascular diseases.

You should completely quit smoking and limit the amount of alcohol consumed. Because

Both smoking and drinking alcohol increase blood pressure. Accordingly, high blood

pressure is the leading cause of chronic kidney disease. Smoking also damages blood vessels

and reduces blood flow to organs including the kidneys. Therefore, without adequate

blood flow to the kidneys, cannot function optimally.

When you stop smoking, this risk will decrease. Quitting smoking is not an easy task,

but you should get the help of an expert to start a smoke-free journey right now. If one

drinks alcohol, limit it to one drink per day if you are a woman and two drinks per day if

you are a man. One drink is about 14 grams of pure alcohol in 12 ounces of regular beer or

5 ounces of table wine or 1.5 ounces of hard liquor.

This article presented the simplest health tips to keep the kidneys healthy, Remember

them and incorporate them into your overall health and well-being
